Mandate

Every ESFI initiative begins with the same question: what structural gap does this close, and why has no existing institution closed it?

The gap exists not because the problem is invisible, but because the mechanism to address it is absent. No European institution holds a mandate to answer certain questions. That absence is ours.

ESFI does not replace what exists.

ESFI does not seek to replace what exists. It builds what cannot be built by the institutions that already exist — because doing so would require them to stop being what they are.

The mandate derives from the non-existence of what ESFI builds. When it exists, the mandate is fulfilled. Until then, the work continues.

How ESFI identifies a structural gap, how a conversation begins, and when we say no.
